I took a detour for a bit! Sorry! It happens!
Lets get back to Lane 2. Now, just a refresher, for me, the 3 most important lanes in my HIGHWAY OF LIFE are Faith, Family and Career. Over the course of really diving into what these lanes look like, I have found that my 2nd lane, Family, really should be called Home. There are so many cars in this lane and I fear its impossible to drive them all at the same time! But, society has said that today's woman CAN and WILL drive them all in order to be considered successful! No pressure there!
This week has been our first week in a VERY long time in which we did not have after work activities to attend to, which brings this lane to a snails pace. I feel like I could be driving along the beach, just absorbing the beauty of it all! I have found myself just sitting around and not getting much done. The peace of it all is so welcoming!
But, enough of getting nothing done, this is MY time! My time to get into the groove of working out, of getting into my craft room and getting projects done, of getting remodeling projects done. The kids are on board and ready to entertain themselves for a few weeks and Jake just smiles at me! :)
So, in true normal fashion for me, I sat down and made a list of things to get done in these few short weeks and the list is MIGHTY long! I had one friend tell me that making a list overwhelms her and once she sees just how long it is, she gives up! I can't imagine finishing anything without a list! Just an example of two different thinking processes. Whichever one works for you, great!!
Now, before I jump into this mighty long list, I prayed that God would give me the courage, strength and knowledge to finish this list. Not to mention the funds! The list is a good two pages long! Thankfully, we have 2 weeks until school starts and several weeks until after school activities start up again. One of the big things on this list is to start the habit of getting into Gods word daily with my children. It takes two weeks for an idea to become a habit. (I don't know where I heard that but it sounds good!) Now, I am in Gods word almost everyday but not with my children and I think its important to be there with them, to read with them, discuss it and answer any questions and see what questions they can come up with that I cant answer!
Two other things that are very important to me during this time is to start and keep up with working out several times a week and to work on friendships that have gone to the side of the road due to kids activities and summer activities! Not only is working out important to me but also getting healthy. In high school computer class the teacher said "garbage in, garbage out" and that's the same concept with our bodies and I have been putting garbage in long enough! Time to clear the garbage. And I LOVE have friends! I think coming from a big family and always having people around has instilled in me a love for people, unlike Jake, who is great at being alone.
Ok, so my question for you today is this..... In this lane-in your Home life-what's important today?
Until next time,
God Bless!
Betty
